Set Goals Like a Pro

Setting goals is one of the most important aspects of achieving success, but it can also be a daunting task.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the idea of goal setting, so it’s important to break down the goal setting process. Here are some tips to help you set successful, productive goals. 

  1. Start with the end in mind - Be sure to have a vision of what is your ultimate achievement. What is your biggest goal? Don’t be afraid to dream big. Even if it seems unrealistic, if you can picture it (by God’s grace) you can do it! And next, we will be taking some steps to get us there. So, write the vision, make it plain and before you know it we will achieve all of our goals!

  2. Follow up with short-term goals - Short-term goals are much easier to achieve than long-term goals and can be a great way to build up momentum. They also give you a sense of accomplishment and progress when you’ve achieved them. Be sure you are using your big picture to set short-term goals that will help you get closer to that vision.

  3.  Set S.M.A.R.T. goals - Make sure your goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This will help you stay focused and motivated to reach your goals. 

  4. Break down big goals into smaller steps - Big goals can seem overwhelming and it can be hard to know where to start. Break them down into smaller, more manageable steps and work on them one at a time. 

  5. Set deadlines -  Be sure that you are setting yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and even daily. What are the steps needed to get us to our big picture goal? We should be working towards that every single day. I have designed some planners that make this easy to do. These planners will not let us forget our goals by March.   6. Celebrate your successes - It’s important to take a step back and appreciate your successes and progress. Celebrating your successes will help keep you motivated and remind you that you’re on the right track.

  7. Track your progress - Tracking your progress helps you stay on track and gives you a better idea of how close you are to achieving your goals. You can do this by using a planner, a binder, or even a notebook you might already have laying around.
