Make It Sparkle

I super enjoy practicality don’t you?

Being the avid researcher that I am, I sometimes, nay, often get lost in hours and hours of research. However, it can be quite refreshing (and a lot less time consuming) to get a step-by-step guide telling me exactly what I need to do in order to achieve my goals. One of my goals is making my home sparkle and shine. I have complied a list based on my extensive years of research as well as my own personal experiences. Today I share some of that list with you

Leave things better than we found them

Every time we enter into a room, let us endeavor to leave the room better than how we found them. If we can find a minimum of 3 things to improve our homes will more often than not look impeccable. If you enter a your family room to relax, for example, tidy up the cushions, place back the remote control (if you have one) or fluff up the throw pillows. Pretty soon we will run out of things to do in that room and it will basically be just maintaining the area we are actively using. Which brings me perfectly into my next point:

Put away not down

This is one of the biggest rules in our home and for good reason! When we put away and not down we are never left with a bigger mess. When have a tendency to put things down, this is actually a form of procrastination. And hopefully we can all recognize that procrastination is not good. It causes things to last way longer than they need to. When in reality, it would have taken a few extra minutes if not seconds to simply handle it the first time. As long as we continue to procrastinate on this or anything else, we will have some weight on our shoulders and once we resolve this we will feel much, much lighter. This also entails not leaving a room empty handed. Everything you take into a room make sure it leaves right out with you. If we handle it once we do not need to worry about it later. As a result our homes will be more tidy while at the same time leaving us less stressed and way less likely to step on a sharp toy (here’s looking at you Legos)

Whistle while you work

Finding the joy in the mundane is crucial to making your home sparkle. When we find a way to make things fun, it will surely get done! Play some music or a fun podcast, there is even a super fun stand up comedy channel on YouTube called Dry Bar Comedy that is so super funny or feel free to watch She builds her home on YouTube. Shameless plug, I know. lol But I really do try to focus on homemaking, positivity and productivity so if that will help you feel free to come over to the channel so that we can connect there as well. Not to mention I have a lot more practical tips there as well 💛

Follow A System

Having a system for managing our homes is super important because it will help us with the planning aspect of it all. You know what they say, “fail to plan, plan to fail” and it is so true! When we have a system, we have a plan. Plans are super useful when it comes to running our homes because they help keep us accountable and on track of things as well. I happen to follow the flylady system, it works wonderfully for my family and I because it is super simple as well as keeping things manageable. It can be done in only a few minutes at a time, which is perfect because I have 2 boys 2 and under. Which means I can only work a few minutes at a time anyway. Not to mentions my weekends are free from cleaning as well meaning I have a lot time to enjoy my family. Win-win! The flylady is super effective and my home is more clean and tidy now than before I had my boys.

But you know what the most effective system of all is? The one that works for you and your family! If you do which to know more about the flylady system though check out my playlist on Youtube. You can find it right here:
